Chief Timothy Longo 

Associate Vice President for Safety & Security & Chief of Police – UVA

Chief Longo oversees the UVA Police Department, the department of Emergency Management, Clery Act compliance, and the Office of Youth Protection, threat assessment, and safety and security systems and technology. Chief Longo is well-known among the LEO community and has provided leadership over several high-profile investigations that drew national interest. 

  

In addition to his primary law enforcement roles, Longo also serves as an adjunct faculty member at the UVA Law School, where he teaches Police Use of Force, and guest lectures in a host of other programs related to the criminal justice system. He has served as part of a team of independent monitors appointed to conduct police department oversight on behalf of the federal courts.

 

Chief Longo definitely understands the rewards and the scrutiny that serving as a law enforcement officer brings. He also knows first-hand the impact that it has on the officer and the officer’s family.
